Business Segment "Capacity Building for Business Membership Organisations (BMO)“
| sequa as leader in BMO development |
Hardly any other agency has carried out more BMO promotion projects than sequa. Consequently, sequa is the highly respected and well established centre of competence for capacity building of business membership organisations (BMOs), not only nationally but internationally as well. |
| BMOs as pacemaker of economic development | BMOs do not only represent the interests of their members’, i.e. enterprieses, also act as central stakeholders of economic development in industrialised countries as well as in developing and transition countries. BMOs have been established in all countries, yet they differ in size, power and target characteristics. Examples are: chambers of commerce and industry, chambers of skilled crafts and small businesses, associations for specific branches, sectors, product groups, women entrepreneurs or social groups. |
| BMOs as partners in development cooperation | BMOs are important actors with regard to international development cooperation. They have easy and direct access to enterprises and have frequently possess the means to positively influence the economic framework conditions in a country. Consequently, BMOs are in greatly demand as partners in projects and programmes targeting the economic development in developing countries, e.g. in the fields of business development services (BDS), standardisation, corporate social responsibility (CSR), cleaner production, cluster development, etc. |
| sequa’s core business | Historically, capacity building for BMOs has been our core business segment. Our shareholders’ network allows us direct access to the know-how and network of all German chambers and associations. Over and above, we have been cooperating with chambers and associations in about 90 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe and have thus established a far-reaching and resilient contact network around the globe. |
| Clients and Track Record | For national and international donors (such as the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), GIZ, the European Commission, IFC and UNIDO) we have carried out more than 200 projects in the field of BMO development and have also issued manuals and other releases that serve as best practice in this field. |
