Vocational training is receiving more and more attention within the context of development cooperation. Many countries specifically request assistance from Germany in this field, as Germany is regarded as having a very good vocational education system. In order to address the growing importance of vocational education, as well as the increasing demand for support in this area, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has published a strategy paper on "Vocational Education Activities in Development Cooperation". It will serve as a frame of reference for vocational education projects in developing countries.

Gudrun Kopp, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, made the following statement: "Well-trained and qualified people are needed in many developing countries in order to make economic development sustainable. That is why Germany has considerably stepped up its development activities in vocational education. Any efforts that are undertaken will need the close in-volvement of the private sector, so that the vocational education on offer provides the skills that the job market needs. Another important factor for the success of vocational education is compliance with accepted standards, improved curricula and greater transferability of skills and qualifications from one branch of the education system to another." "

To intensify their work and advocacy on sustainable development in Myanmar, sequa is leading a consortium of partner-institutions including UK’s Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Confederation of the German Textile and Fashion Industry, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce in Myanmar Business (UMFCCI), Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP) and the Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association (MGMA) since January 2013.

The 4th Ideas Competition 2012 of the develoPPP.de programme "Vocational education, training and qualification" finished on Decenber 31, 2013.

For the 1st Ideas Competition interested enterprises may submit their application documents to sequa from February, 15 until March 31, 2013.

Relevanz des Projekts fĂĽr Land/Region und  Hintergrundinformationen  

Die Erhöhung der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit vor allem kleinerer Unternehmen (KKMU) spielt eine wichtige Rolle bei der Armutsbekämpfung in Indien. Leistungsfähige Wirtschaftsorganisationen können diesen Unternehmen durch gute Beratung und andere Services helfen, Einkommen und Beschäftigung  zu steigern.

Since November 2011, sequa is implementing a project within the GIZ programme „Reform of the national Quality Infrastructure in Ethiopia”. Among the main components are Awarness-raising activities for the need and possibilities on how to improve National Quality Infrastructure through i.e. Study Tours or provision of short term experts.

The News report on activities and impacts of three sequa-projects related to vocational training in Tunisia. In the Employment Pact Tunisia, nine vocational training centers of the National Agency for Vocational Training are advised through German partner institutions in various sectors. The Partnerships for Welding Techniques as well as for Orthopedique Techniques support governmental and private actors with know-how from Germany.

All projects are financed by the German Foreign Office within its Partnership for Transformation and Vocational Training for Tunisia.
