The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has approved a new partner Africa project as part of the special initiative ‘Decent Work for a Just Transition’. The AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development Cooperation (BKU) is cooperating with the Institute of ICT Professionals, Ghana (IIPGH), the Oxford Africa Women Leadership Institute (OAWLI) and the Women Entrepreneurs Rise Network (WERise).
The project, which runs from October 2024 to May 2027, aims to strengthen the capacities of the aforementioned Ghanaian partner organisations to bring young women into ICT-related professions. Targeted awareness-raising campaigns will promote ICT-based solutions, ICT qualification and the equal participation of women in the world of work.
A particular focus is on setting up a mentoring and qualification programme for female students and graduates that is tailored to the needs of the Ghanaian working world. In addition, the partner organisations are to offer job placement services specifically for female ICT specialists.
This project is an important step towards promoting equal opportunities and strengthening the digital skills of women in Ghana, giving them access to new job opportunities in a growing industry.
