At this year's Go Global Awards of the International Trade Council, the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) was awarded as "National Chamber of Commerce of the Year" in the category "Chambers and Associations". According to the jury's decision, the decisive factor for awarding the prize to the GCCI was its commitment during the Corona pandemic. During this time, the chamber took an innovative approach and supported Georgian SMEs in setting up and converting to e-commerce.
The necessary activities to prepare this service - training of staff, and later local businesses, preparation and printing of a handbook, and the "100 Websites for Business" campaign - were mainly supported by the Academy of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria as part of its sequa chamber partnership with the GCCI.
The event took place from 19 - 21 October 2022 in Tallinn, Estonia. The award ceremony was attended by hundreds of executives from the private sector as well as government agencies, financial institutions and business associations. GCCI President Giorgi Pertaia accepted the award on behalf of the entire Chamber.
