The OAV has been involved in Sri Lanka since 2020 as part of a chamber and association partnership. The aim of the project is to strengthen the Northern Chamber of Industries (NCI) and the Northern Chapter of the Women's Chamber of Industry and Commerce (WCIC) in terms of institutional development, services as well as networking and lobbying.

The project pays particular attention to the needs of women-owned or -managed businesses. The activities help to ensure that the Sri-Lankan Government takes greater account of small and medium-sized enterprises when adapting the political framework conditions and thus fosters positive economic development in the poorer northern parts of the country. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
