Since June 2025, BEE has been working together with the South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA), the South African Photovoltaic Industry Association (SAPVIA), and the Southern African Biogas Industry Association (SABIA) to implement a partnership that aims to enhance advocacy and public outreach by the associations. The project focuses on improving service offerings for members and the general public, as well as developing joint communication strategies to promote a more positive image of renewable energy in South Africa.
The associations are implementing targeted measures to diversify their income streams, raise public awareness, and strengthen their role in shaping the country’s energy transition. At the same time, synergies between the associations are being fostered, and shared messaging developed – enabling them to present a united voice to political, economic, and societal stakeholders.
The project also benefits from the expertise of German industry associations – the German Solar Association (BSW-Solar), the German Biogas Association (FvB), and the German Wind Energy Association (BWE) – who provide technical input on their respective technologies and contribute to the thematic design of activities.
The partnership is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) as part of the "Partners in Transformation" programme.
