In October, students from three partner schools visited the Dresden Chamber of Crafts. The young people are currently completing training in plumbing, heating and air conditioning technology and took part in a technical exchange programme as part of the vocational training partnership (BBP).

During their stay, the participants attended a qualification course on the installation and maintenance of heat pumps. The aim was to deepen their practical and theoretical knowledge in this forward-looking occupational field and to familiarise themselves with modern building technology.

Vocational school teachers and master craftsmen also took part in the study trip. They used the visit to familiarise themselves with the technical equipment and didactic concepts of the Chamber of Crafts' vocational training centre and to gain new ideas for practical teaching methods.

The exchange offered all participants valuable insights into dual vocational training in Germany and at the same time strengthened cooperation between the partner schools and the Dresden Chamber of Crafts.

While vocational training partnerships (BBP) usually focus on knowledge transfer and trainer qualification, this meeting was the first to focus on the direct involvement of trainees. It was particularly important for the Ukrainian participants to learn about the structures and processes of German training practices – from the role of chambers of crafts to the function of modern vocational training centres. This not only gave them a deeper understanding of their training occupation in the SHK sector, but also opened up new perspectives for their professional future.
