SKYE II

Focus is on cooperation with the Organised Private Sector of Nigeria (OPSN), the umbrella of the five most important associations in Nigeria: Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture (NACCIMA), Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), Nigerian Association of Small-Scale Industrialists (NASSI) and Nigerian Employers Consultative Association (NECA). Another cooperation partner is the Federation of Construction Industry (FOCI). Following on from the results of a previous project (2019 to 2023), in which six cooperative training programs (alternating between company and training center) based on Competency Based Training (CBT) were piloted, the cooperation is now to be extended to public vocational schools. With its involvement in Sector Skills Councils, the OPSN is laying the foundation for private sector participation in the development of occupational standards. In order to ensure quality and sustainability for the training, 50% of which takes place in companies, a standard for in-company trainers is also to be developed. Furthermore, FOCI will be advised on how to continue training offerings in a sustainable manner.
