sequaForum 2015 A02: The Philippines – Synergies through cooperation

Editorial

Creating synergies is not that easy. The persons involved usually have a rather vague understanding of synergies in the specific case. Often, they are unaware of the resulting deficits thereof. Competitions amongst organisations which aim to raise synergies lead to egoism which hinders a constructive and efficient knowledge transfer.

A project, which aims to create synergies, requires careful planning. The project itself has to be promising and also offer attractive benefits for each participant.Such a project requires a centralised project management which is able to communicate the positive value of the project. The project management has to be an active headquar-ter which commits to transparency and pursues the project’s targets actively and convincingly. Only such approach will allow to overcome issues hampering the development of synergies: the lack of objectivity of individuals and the challenge to match fitting partners in an efficient way. In that sense, the project management has to balance costs and benefits as well as to review attractiveness and ad-vantages on a regular basis.

Please be invited to read more about how we implemented our ideas relating to project- and synergy management and the actual success of creating synergies through a project in the Philippines in this edition of sequaForum.
