Machtmaker IPD
The German Import Promotion Desk (IPD) initiative, implemented by the BGA and sequa and supported by the BMZ, is a link between small and medium-sized enterprises in selected developing and emerging countries and European importers. The IPD aims to integrate the partner countries into global trade and thus make a contribution to sustainable economic development.
The IPD is currently active in 13 countries: Egypt, Ethiopia, Ecuador, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Colombia, Nepal, Peru, Sri Lanka, Tunisia and Ukraine. IPD focuses on specific sectors: fresh fruit and vegetables, natural ingredients for food, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, cut flowers, technical wood and sustainable tourism. Producers in developing and emerging countries prepare the IPD for the EU market in training courses and workshops. The initiative provides information on the regulations, conditions and quality standards that apply to the import of products.
The IPD presents exportable companies at trade fairs, where they present their products. For European companies, the IPD opens up new sources of supply in the partner countries and supports them in sourcing. Importers also receive information about products, markets and countries. At trade fairs and procurement trips, the IPD provides direct contact with carefully selected exporters. The IPD cooperates closely with national organisations and trade associations in the partner countries and supports them in further developing their offers for export promotion. This creates sustainable structures to support export companies
