During his stay from November 2022 to May 2023, Malte Stump was entrusted with a variety of responsibilities. He restored historical and contemporary instruments, led courses on violin making, built new professional instruments and instruments for a charity organization, and also assisted and advised clients and professional musicians. Additionally, he worked alongside colleagues from all around the world.
The exchange and collaboration with colleagues from different countries were the most enjoyable experience for Malte Stump during his stay in London. In the workshop, violin makers from Germany, Argentina, USA, France, Romania, Switzerland, and other countries worked together, and there were constant guests and sponsors from China, Japan, India, Italy, Peru, and many other countries. All were united by their passion for stringed instruments and violin making.
During his stay abroad, the young journeyman not only gained valuable professional experiences during his internship, but also grew personally. He learned how to deal with challenges and supposed setbacks and how important it is to always find new ways to achieve one's goals. Particularly impressive was his work on historically significant instruments, which gave him a deep understanding of the art of violin making.
Overall, the internship was an unforgettable experience for Malte Stump, which shaped him in his professional and personal development. He recommends that anyone who has the opportunity to participate in such a programme should do so and gain new experiences that can enrich one’s life.
