Capacity Building for associations in Georgia
The GIZ project "VET in Georgia's growth sectors", which has been running since September 2023, focuses on sustainable economic development, training and employment in Georgia. The aim is to improve employment prospects in selected sectors of the Georgian economy. Thus it contributes to the objectives set out in the 2021-2024 programme “Towards Building a European State” in particular Objective 2, Economic Development, and Objective 3, Social Policy and Human Capital Development. The target group is Georgia's employable population, in particular young women and men aged 15 to 24 who are not in employment, but also employees and company owners. Intermediaries are specialists and managers from vocational training institutions as well as service providers in the selected sectors. Through its nationwide network of chambers and associations, sequa can contribute the necessary expertise in the areas of vocational training and organizational development of vocational training actors to the GIZ project.

After sequa provided targeted support to Jordanian business organizations and companies from the fresh fruit and vegetables and natural ingredients sectors as part of the GIZ project "Trade for Employment" in 2023 in order to establish new business relationships between Jordanian exporters and European importers, sequa's project activities will enter a new phase in 2024. The new project will run from March 2024 to June 2025 and aims to enhance the export capacities of Jordan's fresh fruit and vegetables, natural ingredients and IT outsourcing sectors. The target groups are selected Jordanian matchmaking-ready companies with export potential from the above mentioned sectors. Project activities include preparation and matchmaking of Jordanian companies at SIAL Paris and a buying mission of European fresh fruits and vegetables importers to Jordan.

In the long term, this should provide Cameroonian agriculture with trained personnel for the use of renewable energy-based technologies.

The project contributes to the promotion of vocational training, sustainable economic development and support for small and medium-sized enterprises in the regions of Lviv, Volynia, Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil in Ukraine. The aim is to establish vocational training with dual elements as an educational pathway in the local vocational schools in four project regions in western Ukraine. Specifically, the plan is to align the curricula and syllabuses in selected professions with a practical orientation and to anchor additional modules, such as skills assessment, career guidance and self-employment counselling at the partner schools. Cooperation between vocational schools, companies and other stakeholders in vocational education and training is to be systematised and used to disseminate dual elements.

The aim is to familiarize various stakeholders with the topic and relevant methodologies to integrate green competences into the technical education system in Egypt. For a long-lasting and sustainable knowledge transfer, different peer learning methodologies such as workshops, seminars, webinars, on-site visits, exchange formats, etc. shall be applied. The primary focus of this knowledge transfer will be on an international scale, with an emphasis on engaging German knowledge bearers – especially the from private sector, associations/chambers – who possess experience in the aforementioned areas and have a proven track record of greening curricula. This contract for a knowledge exchange and learning format shall be designed to span two years catering to a minimum of 30 and up to 40 participants from Egyptian and German institutions. The central theme of this knowledge exchange pertains to the green economy and green competences within technical education. The practitioners in the planned knowledge exchange and learning format shall represent diverse key institutions (different chambers and associations as well as vocational training centres of employers‘ organisations) and economic sectors of a wide range, both in Germany and in Egypt. This approach ensures, that the exchange will have a broader impact in Egypt and that principles on integrating green skills into technical education programmes are more like to be transferable to different economic sectors.

The partner structures in Moldova are strengthened in their capacities through analyses, further training, events, consultations and public relations work. Full-time and voluntary staff of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Moldova as well as employees and representatives of vocational schools are supported through long-term and short-term advisory assignments, contributions to further training, networking events, delegation trips and equipment assistance as required. With these strengthened capacities on an individual and organisational level, the participating vocational schools and the IHK representatives are able to improve the training offers and adapt them to the needs of the labour market in a targeted manner. Advertising campaigns and public relations measures offer the opportunity to interest more young people and, above all, more young women in vocational training programmes. With the help of improved training programmes, more competent and larger numbers of company trainers, the available range of vocational training measures will be expanded. Companies can be recruited as internship or dual training companies via the IHK. Trainers in companies can be identified and qualified for the implementation of in-company training content. Well-trained young people find employment more easily. Moldovan companies can find skilled labour more easily and contribute to economic development in the country.
