Maintenance Unit
The establishment of a Maintenance Unit (MU) as a pool of qualified skilled workers is intended to specifically improve the operational readiness of machinery in training centers and partner organizations of German development cooperation. Flexible, short-term assignments by the MU will ensure that defective machines are repaired and local specialists are trained in maintenance, repair, and operation to ensure long-term use. In close cooperation with the Agency for Economic and Development (AWE), needs are being identified and suitable assignments selected and planned. By the end of the project, it is planned to measurably improve at least eight machine parks through expert assignments and to train over 30 local multipliers. This will particularly benefit trainers and learners, who will gain access to higher-quality education through functioning machines. The project thus aims to contribute to sustainable development goals, promote innovation, and demonstrate the potential of skilled craft trades in international cooperation.
