The Environmental Centre (UWZ) of the Saarland Chamber of Skilled Crafts accompanies the Chambre des Métiers de l'Artisanat (CMA; the Chamber of Skilled Crafts) of Benin during its foundation process.

The Environmental Centre (UWZ) of the Saarland Chamber of Skilled Crafts already worked in Benin between 2015 and 2022 within the framework of a vocational training partnership. Now, the UWZ will support the newly elected Chambre des Métiers de l'Artisanat of Benin (a national chamber of crafts with branches in the regions; in short: CMA) in a Business Membership Organisation Partnerships (KVP) in its foundation process. The CMA is to become more involved in vocational training and contribute to the formalisation of the crafts. This should give self-employed craftspeople access to social benefits and pension payments.

UWZ, together with a local pool of trainers, will support the representatives of the CMA in carrying out their tasks in accordance with the statutes. To this end, selected participants will be accompanied in practice following further training. In addition, with the support of the UWZ, the CMA will expand its portfolio in the area of services and advocacy. It will also launch an information campaign on already existing offers to the craft sector and better link the providers of these offers with the craftsmen in selected areas. The KVP is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
