With a planning workshop and a festive kick-off event, the KVP project with a duration until September 2024 started successfully on 1 December 2021 in Natal, Brazil, and was accompanied by a lot of public relations work. On this occasion, not only were the contracts of all five partner associations and the agreement with Green Destination (non-profit organisation for the development and recognition of sustainable destinations) signed. In addition, the certificates from Green Destination were also presented to the TOP 100 municipalities of 2021.
The KVP project is based on the concept of local economic development (Desenvolvimento Economico Local - DEL) and aims to initiate and implement concrete measures for local economic development in the field of sustainable tourism through the creation of innovative moderated dialogue platforms and the involvement of selected associations, educational institutions and local partners (municipality, civil organizations). The main focus of the project is the organisational and DEL competence consulting and development of the participating associations in five regions of Brazil.
The strategic partner is the Dutch Green Destination Foundation. The Green Destination program prepares interested parties for certifications and benchmark awards accredited by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, seeking international recognition and responsible tourism. Green Destination will support the project to seek joint certification of enterprises as Sustainable Tourism Enterprises, following the model of the "GOOD TRAVAL GUIDE".
The feedback from all participants was very positive. The presentations, visits and planning sessions were very efficiently organized and well moderated. A very good start with unanimously motivated actors, which points promisingly into the future.
The KVP is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
