Promotion of chambers in Iraq
The project is a chamber and association partnership between the Bildungswerk der Bayerischen Wirtschaft (bbw) gGmbH and the Chambers of Commerce in Baghdad and Basra. Building on a successful first phase (2024–03/2026), the second phase (04/2026–12/2028) aims to enable the partner chambers to provide needs-based and gender-sensitive support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Iraq, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of the private sector. The core of the project is the consolidation and further development of SME help desks as well as specialist and nucleus groups. The chambers systematically record the needs of SMEs, develop new or improved services based on this information, and establish regular dialogue formats between chambers, companies, government agencies and other stakeholders. There is a particular focus on the targeted involvement of women and taking into account the advisory needs of women-led companies. Plans include training measures for chamber employees, strategy workshops, mobile advisory services and strengthening economic policy advocacy. By the end of the project, the number of SME members is expected to increase, at least 200 companies will be using support and advisory services, and gender-sensitive SME services will be firmly established.

The aim of the project is to improve the supply of qualified skilled workers for the Sri Lankan construction industry in the long term. To this end, the existing vocational training partnership between the Frankfurt-Rhein-Main Chamber of Skilled Crafts (HWK FRM), the Chamber of Construction Industry of Sri Lanka (CCI), and selected vocational training institutions (DATS, CGTTI, and SLGTI) will be systematically expanded in a second project phase from 2026 to 2028. Building on the results of the first project phase, the partners' capacities for practice-oriented training and further education will be further strengthened. The main focus will be on establishing a sustainable train-of-trainers system with master trainers, qualifying vocational training staff in demand-oriented and “green” occupational fields in the building trade, and further developing training programs relevant to the labor market. In addition, career counseling for young people will be intensified in order to increase the attractiveness of skilled construction trades. Another key component is the introduction and institutional anchoring of the recognition of prior learning (RPL) as a service provided by the CCI. This gives unskilled or informally employed workers in the building trade access to state-recognized certifications and enables them to improve their employment and income prospects.

The aim of the project is to improve the employment and working conditions of graduates in Cameroon while enabling investment in renewable energies in agriculture. To this end, the Dresden Electrical Education and Technology Center (EBZ) is continuing its vocational training partnership with the Centre de Formation Professionnelle Bafoussam (CPF), the national agricultural chamber CAPEF, and the Berco Institute in a second phase from 2026 to 2028. Building on the successful pilot in the first phase, the training course “Specialist for Renewable Energies in Agriculture” will be finalized in terms of content, further developed with the participation of the private sector, and submitted for official recognition (homologation) to the responsible ministry (MINEFOP). At the same time, teaching and examination materials will be produced, trainers and examination staff will be qualified, and digital blended learning units will be developed. One focus is on strengthening the practical orientation: farms are being prepared for the practical training components, cooperation agreements are being concluded, and internships are being systematically arranged and supervised. This will improve the integration of vocational training and the labor market and increase demand for the new job profile.

The project offers partial qualifications in areas of high demand, particularly to young people with intermediate or no school qualifications, in order to help reduce the shortage of skilled workers. The construction sector is ideal for short-term qualifications because it offers comparatively high employment potential and, at the same time, low-threshold access to self-employment. The vocational qualifications are enhanced by additional services such as career guidance, socio-psychological support and soft skills training to ensure successful integration into working life. Sustainability is integrated into the partial qualifications as a cross-cutting theme, for example ‘resource-efficient construction’ and ‘waste management in the workplace’. An innovative element of the project is the close partnership between the Tunisian Employment Agency, vocational training centres and private companies.

Building on the successes of the first phase (2023–2025), the second phase (01/2026–12/2028) aims to further improve the quality and practical orientation of dual initial vocational training in the metal and electrical sectors and to align it more closely with the needs of the Serbian economy. The quality of training will be sustainably enhanced through qualification measures for teachers and trainers, the development of teaching materials, quality standards and new training profiles. There is a particular focus on promoting women in technical professions through gender-sensitive career guidance and targeted support measures. At the same time, the public image of dual vocational training is being improved through public relations work and dialogue formats.
