The German Pilz Schindler GmbH is active in the international fruit trade and has been involved in a project in Honduras since summer 2018.

The project is aimed at improving exportability and process optimisation in the processing of sweet potatoes into chips, French fries and flour for around 20 farms.

Pilz Schindler and its local partner, export company Inversiones Agricolas, are setting up a training centre and developing appropriate training materials. Training of local multipliers who train farmers and field workers in the regions of Omoa, San Pedro Sula and Danta Barbara are being trained through Training-of-Trainer (ToT) measures.

Within the framework of the project, the selected farms will be certified according to the EU MRLs and Global GAP standards. In addition, lecturers and students will be trained at the Agricultural University of Zamarano and involved both theoretically and practically in the project.
