Since November 15, 2017, the German Bildungswerk der Baden-Württembergischen Wirtschaft (BiWe) e. V. and SOS Rwanda are cooperating in a vocational training partnership.

The aim of the project is to increase the quality of training in the fields of welding and plumbing by means of a higher practical relevance.

In a first project phase until November 2019,  the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA) will support partners in Botswana in improving their vocational education and training programme in the Vocational Education and Training Partnership (BBP). The goal of the partnership lies in a better focus on skills relevant within the local labour market.

The vocational training partnership of German Cologne Chamber of Crafts and Small Businesses (HWK Cologne) in Uganda entered its second phase in December 2017. It will last until November 2020. The Ugandan partners remain Nakawa Vocational Training Institute (NVTI), Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) and Uganda Small Scale Industries Association (USSIA).

The project’s objective is to make initial training at NVTI more practical and needs-based and to create a demand-oriented further education offer for companies.

The Federation of German Wholesale, International Trade and Services (BGA) e.V. continues its partnership with Peruvian Chambers of Commerce in a second project phase of three years. It started in August 2017 and will end in July 2020. The Peruvian partners are the national confederation of chambers of industry and commerce “Perucámaras” with CCI Lima and the regional chambers of Piura and Puno.

The project’s objective remains to strengthen the partner chambers as stakeholders and providers of quality services.

This prize has been awarded by the European Commission since 2006.
