As part of the giz-program "Skills4Recovery", sequa has been supporting around 30 Ukrainian educational institutions and vocational centres of the regional employment agencies in Poltava, Dnepr, Kiev and Lviv in the development and implementation of 3-month retraining courses for the unemployed and internally displaced persons since December 2023. The aim is to combat the acute shortage of skilled workers on the Ukrainian labour market, which was triggered by the massive emigration of people abroad as a result of the war, by offering needs-oriented courses. The courses on offer are based on the current needs of the regional labour markets. Each course is coordinated in close cooperation with the regional methodological centre (similar to BIBB in Germany) and the employment agency. Since January 2024, the project has been offering qualification courses for electric welders, gas welders, tractor drivers, electric fitters, tailors and seamstresses, forklift drivers and vehicle drivers. 350 people are already enrolled. More than 150 participants are still expected.
